• Arrival

Set up your pit area and familiarize yourself with the race venue layout. Check in with the Race Director and confirm your registration is complete before taking any practice laps on the track.

  • Practice

Practice sessions will alternate between "open" and "controlled" formats. During open practice, all cars are permitted on the track simultaneously, with drivers expected to show courtesy and awareness of speed differences between vehicles. During controlled practice, classes may be divided by body type (hard bodies or Lexan bodies) or by speed categories, depending on racer turnout and class participation.

For all practice sessions, the driver stand has a 10-driver maximum capacity. When other drivers are waiting for their turn, each driver is limited to 3 minutes of practice time.

  • Motor Tech

28SRA conducts "post tech" motor KV inspections. The top 3 finishers in each applicable class must pull to the side of the track where drivers may not touch their vehicles. Track staff will collect the cars and test motor KV after a 3-minute cool-down period to verify compliance with class regulations.

To prepare for inspection, a KV motor tester is available before races for pre-testing. It is highly recommended that you run your car for time equal to a race or qualifier and then immediately test your motor's KV to ensure it complies with the stated limit for your race class.

  • Pre-Race Tech

It is the driver's responsibility to make sure the car meets the rules for any class they wish to participate. Each car will be teched for class rules before each qualifier or main and "post race" for the top 3 racers for motor KV compliance. See the link below for class rules.

  • Turn Marshaling

All racers must serve as turn marshals unless prior arrangements have been made with the Race Director.

After a race, drivers may not return to the pit area. All drivers (except the top 3 finishers) must place their car and remote control on the impound table and immediately take their position at a marshal point on the track.

If you have back-to-back races that create a marshaling conflict, please arrange for a volunteer to cover your marshal duty. This is your responsibility, not the Race Directors.

  • Seeding

The seeding round will be a 3 minute race with the driver's top 5 average laps counting toward the best overall seed position.

  • Qualifiers

28SRA Grand Prix qualification consists of 3 rounds of 5 minute races per class. The qualifying order will be reorganized after each round. Each driver's best single run from any qualifying round will be used to determine their final qualifying position and seeding for the main events.

  • Mains

The Grand Prix follows a triple main event format. Points are awarded to each racer based on their final position in each race. The racer with the highest point average across these races will be declared the winner of that class. If a driver wins the first 2 out of 3 races, they automatically win the class championship and will not participate in the final race.

During any race if the driver's car is disabled or broken, please take 1 step backwards and quietly wait for the race to complete before leaving the drivers stand.

Tapping a body back on or performing a quick service on a car is allowed but not at the expense of other cars on the track. If a car requires more attention it can be handed to someone off the track.

Give the race the attention you would want others to do of you!

  • Race Day Reminders

Racing RC cars is about more than just competition—it's about building a positive community. Good sportsmanship means congratulating fellow racers on their achievements, offering help to newcomers, and accepting both victories and defeats with grace. We expect all participants to communicate respectfully, avoid interrupting others during races, and refrain from any language or behavior that could detract from the welcoming atmosphere we strive to maintain. Remember that marshaling for others is just as important as racing your own vehicle. While we all enjoy the thrill of competition, the ultimate goal is creating lasting memories and friendships within our RC community. Your positive attitude and behavior contribute significantly to making race day enjoyable for everyone involved.
